Art is everywhere, it's up to us to free our sensibility to savour the inner richness that it silently gives us.
Luigi Pellanda, was born in Bassano del Grappa in 1964 and is a self-taught artist. He has cultivated his passion for art since the early 1970's. This is when he experimented with various artistic disciplines practised by the many brothers, ranging from music, ceramics, and painting; all carried out with great naturalness. It is the vision of Caravaggio's paintings, however, that has a profound effect on him: since his school days, this great artist has represented his ideal style of painting, exemplified by a strong contrast between light and shadow. In 1980, at the age of sixteen, he wrote music and lyrics. With one of his compositions, he won “La rosa d’oro" singing competition. His singer-songwriter path begins from here, which takes him on several stages alongside important national artists, a path he will leave five years later in order to entirely devote himself to painting and sculpture.Over the same period, (1980), the modeling of clay in the artistic ceramics company of his older brother was added to his painting,. Moreover, he collaborated as a designer, engaging in a personal and more contemporary research, which meant leaving aside the traditional forms of Novese and Bassanese ceramics. His passion for nature, especially for wildlife and botany, became the inspiration for tempera paintings on panels, which engaged his personal research for much of the 1980's. In 1991, he dedicated himself intensively to the study of still life. In the same period, the first Personal Exhibition of Bassano del Grappa (Vicenza) also took place., which will definitely mark his artistic and professional career. In 1993, just two years after the exhibition, he is already collaborating with well-known art galleries at a national level, partecipating in the most important contemporary art fairs. In 1996, after admiring an etching by Giovanni Barbisan in an exhibition of engravings at the Bassano del Grappa museum, he became passionate about engraving. After acquiring the technique, he performed a series of etchings personally curated and printed in his studio. In 2002, he realizes his first exhibition "Antologica 1986/2002”, sponsored by the municipality of Marostica (Vicenza), where about a hundred paintings and sculptures are exhibited to the public in the halls of the prestigious lower Castle and visited by more than nine thousand visitors in only fifteen days..In 2002, he began a collaboration with the Cinquantasei Art Gallery of Bologna, his works will be nationally displayed in the most important Italian art fairs: Bari, Bologna, Brescia, catania, Firenze, Forlì, Genoa, Padua, Reggio Emilia, Verona, Cremona, Modena, Perugia, Bergamo, Naples, Turin, Vicenza, Viterbo, Milan, Parma etc...In 2003, he already numbers about eighty personal exhibitions. He has exhibited in Dallas (U.S.A.), Cologne (Germany), and Klagenfurt (Austria). Among the most important exhibitions let us recall Antologica at the lower castle of Marostica, Vicenza, Personal Exhibition at the Cinquantasei Gallery, Bologna, 2003; Figura e figure from Favretto to Pellanda, curated by S. In 2016, photography, which has accompanied him behind the scenes for his first 30 years of career, becomes in effect a new form of art, in addition to painting. He manages to maintain the play of light and shadows which are characteristic of his paintings. In 2017, he partecipates in the Bassano Fotografia "Biennial", with an exhibition of Fine Art photography entitled Natural Art. In 2018, he exhibited, together with the sculptress Mirella Guasti, at the Stadium of Domitian, a prestigious UNESCO heritage site of ancient Rome.
